Reading the cones

A pyrometer tells you the temperature; a cone tells you what the heat has done. Three small clay cones stand in the spy hole, made to bend at set heats, and when the middle one bows over the firing is done whatever the dial says. Mohan still checks by the colour of the flame first and the cone second.
